Equity in COVID-19

Mitigation and policy responses in Africa

This research programme systematically reconstructs, documents and analyses the mitigation measures, policy responses and interventions by national governments and non-state actors in twelve African countries in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the research programme

The aim of this research programme is to systematically reconstruct, document and analyse what the mitigation measures, policy responses, policy actions and interventions by national governments and non-state actors in Africa are in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Focus on three themes:

  1. Work and income;
  2. Access to basic services;
  3. Governance.

Within these themes we will be looking at equity, social and spatial (i.e. vulnerable people and marginalised areas) and both short term and long term.

The research programme is carried out in 12 countries (Benin, Burkina-Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tunisia and Uganda). All of the research teams are led by African scholars.
