Désiré Assogbavi

Désiré Assogbavi is the Francophone Africa Director of ONE. An advocate and international development expert, Désiré has been successively the Resident Representative to the African Union and Director of the Liaison Offices of Oxfam InternationalPlan International, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for 13 years combined, where he worked on a wide range of issues including social and economic justice, humanitarian diplomacy, human security, democratic governance, gender justice and the youth.

Previously, he coordinated the Africa Team of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court,  in New York, USA from 2001 to 2006.

From 1997 to 2001, elected by the Parliament of Togo, Désiré served in the National Human Rights Commission as Commissioner. During the same period, he produced and presented juridical & civic education programs on the National Radio of Togo before being appointed as Head of the Civic Education Department (Ministry of Communication).

Désiré holds a Master’s Degree in international law and administrative sciences and a vocational diploma in management and accounting. He speaks French and English.
