At the SEforALL Global Forum in Barbados, INCLUDE proudly contributed to the critical conversation on “Empowering Women in Leadership: Innovations, Finance, and Inclusive Transitions in Clean Energy.”

In a dynamic session filled with interactive discussions and commitment-building, we explored practical strategies to break barriers, elevate women’s visibility, and promote equitable opportunities in the energy sector. With insights from global leaders–including Damilola Ogunbiyi (SEforALL), and Bola Adesola (chairman Ecobank)–This session reinforced the urgency of unlocking access to finance, leadership roles, and inclusive policy frameworks for women in energy.

Our Key Takeaways:

  •  Inclusive transitions require targeted financing—women must have equitable access to capital for scaling energy enterprises.
  • Leadership matters—representation at decision-making tables shapes the future of sustainable energy.
  • Intersectionality is key—youth, gender, and socio-economic factors must be integrated into policy and investment strategies.

INCLUDE Joins the Gender and Energy Compact at SEforALL Global Forum

On March 13, 2025, INCLUDE proudly joined the Gender and Energy Compact, reinforcing our commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women in the clean energy transition. This was officially communicated at the SEforALL Global Forum in Barbados, where INCLUDE contributed to the session “Empowering Women in Leadership: Innovations, Finance, and Inclusive Transitions in Clean Energy.”

Why This Matters

The Gender and Energy Compact is a global coalition that brings together governments, private sector leaders, academia, civil society, and youth to drive gender-responsive policies and ensure:

✔ Women have equal opportunities to lead, participate in, and benefit from sustainable energy transitions.
✔ More inclusive and gender-responsive energy access policies are developed and implemented.
✔ Women-owned businesses gain access to finance, entrepreneurship opportunities, and technical support.
✔ Workplace policies and leadership structures actively promote gender equity in the energy sector.
✔ Gender-disaggregated data and tools are leveraged to inform decision-making.

Our Commitment

As a signatory to the Gender and Energy Compact, INCLUDE is committed to advocating for labor-based incentives that support women in clean energy careers, engaging in policy discussions that drive equitable energy transitions, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure gender equity remains central to the global energy agenda.

Collaboration & Next Steps

At SEforALL’s Global Forum, INCLUDE engaged with key partners—including ENERGIA, SEforALL, and the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET)—to align on shared goals and next steps in advancing the Compact’s mission.

We look forward to working alongside global leaders to accelerate progress toward SDG7 (universal access to sustainable energy) and SDG5 (gender equality).
