Starting out as a specialist in rural development, Robert-Jan Scheer now leads policy development on Africa at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before taking up this position he worked on international trade, corporate social responsibility and agriculture and food security, and pioneered the ministry’s work on public private partnerships and institutional development. Before joining the ministry,Robert-Jan worked in Bolivia, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Zambia. He has been a board member of the Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) and an advisory member of the ILO/IFC Better Work programme.
