Lemma Senbet

Lemma Senbet is the The William E. Mayer Chair Professor Finance, University of Maryland; Immediate Past Executive Director of African Economic Research Consortium (AERC); Member of the the Independent Council of Economic Advisors of Ethiopia (appointed by the PM); former Founding Director of Center for Financial Policy at Maryland and is member of the Distinguished Advisory Board of the Africa Growth Initiative at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC; Member of the Advisory Council of the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund, and serves on the Advisory Panel of G20 Compact with Africa. In 2000, Lemma was inducted into the Financial Economists Roundtable (FER), a distinguished group of world-wide financial economists who have made significant contributions to finance and apply research to policy. In 2006, he was inducted Fellow of the FMA International in recognition of his career-long distinguished scholarship. Lemma is a platform member of INCLUDE. Prior to Maryland, Lemma was a chaired professor at the University of Wisconsin, US, and held the Charles Albright Endowed Chair in Finance. In 2005, Lemma received an honorary doctorate from Addis Ababa University (his alma mater), Ethiopia.
