John Maara holds a PhD in economics from the University of Nairobi where he is also a lecturer. Previously he was a visiting scholar of the Cash Transfer Program of University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, at the Swiss Sub-saharan African Migration Network at the University of Neuchâtel and at the Swedish Research Links at the University of Gothenburg. John’s area of research interest is labour economics with a focus on migration and remittances, cash transfers and economics of land governance.
