Dennis Arends is a socio-economist with an MA in Development Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He has been working for international development agencies for nearly 20 years. Prior to his return to his home country in 2011, Dennis worked in five countries in Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, mainly with UN agencies (UNICEF, UNDP and the ILO). The focus of his work has been on a human rights-based approach to programming, social protection, social budgeting, social exclusion, multidimensional poverty, inequality, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, and policy advocacy.
