Basil Jones is Advisor to the Special Envoy on Gender and Vice President, African Development Bank (AfDB). Currently he is on secondment to the Office of the Special Envoy on Gender within the Bank, where he supports the generation of knowledge activities and flagship publications and provide significant level of policy analysis as well as leading the work on women’s legal status and property rights. He has worked in the Fragile States Unit of the Bank. Prior to joining the AfDB in 2009, he worked for 8 year with the Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in the regional office in Dakar, Senegal and Nairobi, Kenya as a Senior Program Specialist in the Economics Program as well as the Think Tank Initiative. Basil Jones holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hull, UK.
