On 25 March 2021, the Economic Policy Research Centre which is implementing one of the INCLUDE’s  policy dialogues in Africa will hold a dialogue with actors in the cotton sector in Uganda.  During the dialogue, the delegates will discuss and share ideas on how to productively engage and encourage youth and women to effectively participate and invest in the cotton value chains. The specific objectives of the meeting are to:

  • Promote and create awareness on the use of the agro-industrial approach as a means of creating productive and decent jobs along the cotton value chain;
  • Explore the type of enterprises that should be prioritised in the cotton value chain.
  • Exchange ideas on what the government and private agencies should do to operationalize the cotton value chain for agro-industrialisation for productive and decent work; and
  • To establish a platform for actors in the cotton sector to share what works and does not work among cotton growing communities and technocrats.

More information is available in the concept Note for the dialogue.

The dialogue will be held in Mwana Highway Hotel, Iganga, Uganda at 10:00am. If you would like to participate, kindly get in touch with, Madina Guloba: mguloba@eprcug.org
