On 11 and 12 May, INCLUDE and AERC will organise a working conference “Building Policy-Knowledge Communities for Inclusive Development in Africa” in Nairobi. The objective of the working conference is to further explore how the Platform can cooperate with African organisations and think tanks in knowledge sharing and knowledge uptake around the country-specific research projects supported by the Platform start a policy-knowledge community. On the first day we will organize focused sessions in which policy makers and practitioners present the burning questions in their respective policy fields (female entrepreneurship and fresh produce value chains), to inspire and link up to researchers and other resource persons and to discuss how best these policy questions may best be answered. We have invited representatives from AfDB, HIVOS, PEPnet, UIA, UWEAL, FPEAK, Uganda Ministry of Gender, The Netherlands embassy and several research institutions. On the second day, the newly awarded research projects on social protection will present their projects and discuss potential cross-linkages as well as ways to promote policy engagement from the onset and throughout the research projects.
