INCLUDE co-hosts social protection seminar ‘Cash transfer or safety net?’

By: INCLUDE Secretariat | 17-06-2016 | News

Social protection is on the rise in Africa. INCLUDE’s seven research groups on social protection are studying the anticipated effects and benefits of a comprehensive social protection approach. Through two policy-knowledge communities, INCLUDE is also stimulating the uptake of evidence on social protection by African policy stakeholders.

To further stimulate an inclusive and evidence-based policy agenda on social protection, INCLUDE is partnering with UNICEF and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Together, we are organizing a series of two seminars on social protection policies. The first seminar will be held on 23 June at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Hague and centres around the question ‘Cash transfer or safety net: which social protection programmes are affordable and inclusive?’. Three international experts will discuss the wide range of impacts that social protection can have on inclusive development, as well as the design and implementation of social protection policies in Africa.
