Ghana, a lower middle-income country since 2010, has a number of social protection programmes for its most vulnerable populations including the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty programme and National Health Insurance Schemes. When the first case of COVID was identified in the country in March, 2020, the state expanded its social protection programmes and was supported by non-state actors to deliver a range of programmes to Ghanaian citizens.

This paper offers an overview of the policies implemented by the Government of Ghana and their impact on the population.
