The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) in collaboration with Centre for African BioEntrepreneurship (CABE) with the Dutch Knowledge Platform on Inclusive Development (INCLUDE) will host a one day forum on “Employment creation in the horticulture sector in Kenya and the role of Utafiti Sera (Research-Policy Community)’’, to be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Panafric hotel, Nairobi.

This forum is part of the on-going Utafiti Sera stakeholder engagement processes to encourage and enhance use of research evidence in formulation of employment creation policies. Earlier, on November 15, 2016, a forum was held on ‘wage employment in the Sugar sector in Kenya’ during which over forty stakeholders deliberated on the challenges and opportunities for wage employment in the sector.

The forum will host about 35 policy makers, practitioners and researchers to discuss employment creation in the horticulture sector (including Flower sub-Sector), policy implications and the role that Utafiti Sera can play. The participants will be drawn from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, County Governments, public and private practitioners, universities, research organisations, trade union, media, non-governmental organisations and key international organisations.
